Gulcan is a solicitor in our Regulatory Team and deals primarily with incidents arising in the workplace. This includes allegations which are under criminal investigation but also disciplinary matters which are investigated by Regulatory bodies such as the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and the Health & Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
Since joining Blackfords LLP in 2011, Gulcan has gained experience working in our Criminal Defence Team which involved regular advocacy in the Magistrates’ and Youth Courts. She also worked in our Proceeds of Crime Team, dealing with confiscation and the enforcement of Confiscation Orders. Gulcan is also an accredited police station representative and therefore regularly attends interviews under caution with the police or other local authority officials.
Much of the work Gulcan presently deals with comes from referrals made by a well established Trade Union or own client recommendations. As such, this covers a vast range of areas from traffic offences through to very serious crimes such as homicide, drugs conspiracies and complex fraud.
Gulcan also often receives instructions to challenge entries on certificates issued by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) or decisions to include applicants on the Children’s and Vulnerable Adult Barred Lists. She also has experience in dealing with taxi licencing or revocations of other specialist licences such as HGV.
Gulcan is of Turkish-Cypriot heritage and is fluent in Turkish.
