Samantha Christien is a part of our Central London office having joined Blackfords LLP in January 2023. Samantha graduated from the University of Law in 2022 having achieved a Distinction in her LPC and MSc in Law, Business and Management.
Samantha has worked on an extensive range of criminal cases often advising high-profile individuals on pre-charge matters. Samantha works closely with our Partners and Senior Solicitors to advise and prepare for trials involving allegations of fraud and insider dealing brought by and involving authorities including the Serious Fraud Office, Trading Standards, HMRC and Financial Conduct Authority.
Samantha has a keen interest in Health and Safety Law and Regulatory matters; she regularly represents individuals at coroners inquests and investigations involving the Health and Safety Executive. Samantha advises and represents police officers under investigation or facing court and tribunal proceeding for both criminal and disciplinary matters. Samantha works closely with the local federations of England and Wales.
Operation Kempston (2024) Insider dealing prosecution, highlighted as one of the FCA’s key enforcement cases for tackling economic crime. Following half-time submissions, the prosecution offered no-evidence on three counts of fraud and the court directed there was no case to answer for the remaining six counts against the former Clifford Chance solicitor.
R v D (2023) Successful defence of former tram driver in relation to allegations concerning the Health and Safety at Work Act. The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) brought the prosecution in relation to a fatal tram derailment in 2016. The client was acquitted following a 6-week trial at The Old Bailey.
R v B (2025) Secured a not guilty verdict following a three-day trial at Maidstone Crown Court. The charge derived from an investigation which took place over three years ago, involved the allegation that, whilst attending a hospital with his wife, who was enduring the very difficult birth of their second child and during an episode of heightened medical concern, the client had sexually assaulted the treating midwife in the room where his wife was being attended by a number of medical staff.
R v O (2025) Isleworth Crown Court. Successfully represented a businessman from a high-profile family charged with assault on emergency worker.
