Kiran Gibson secures Acquittal in Serious Assault case
Kiran Gibson has secured a “Not Guilty verdict” for her client, who was acquitted of multiple serious charges following a seven-day trial at Guildford Crown Court. The charges included Assault by Penetration, Rape x2, Sexual Assault of a Child x3 and Assault by Beating.

The case involved sensitive and complex issues, with the complainant—a 15-year-old girl—and her mother both being considered vulnerable due to mental health and physical disabilities. Despite being informed of the complainant’s age, the prosecution alleged that the client remained at their premises and committed multiple sexual offenses over a three-day period.
Kiran alongside the Defence Team presented a compelling argument that the client, who himself was vulnerable and required an intermediary, believed the complainant to be 18 years old based on identification shown to him. This defence argument was complicated by virtue of him having been made subject to a Sexual Risk Order at the time which had been imposed recently.
The jury ultimately acquitted the client of all sexual offences, although he was found guilty of breaching the Sexual Risk Order, a charge added during the trial.
Rupert Hallowes of 15 New Bridge Street Chambers was instructed in the matter.
