Kiran Gibson secures Not Guilty verdict in Conspiracy to Supply Class A Drugs Case

News3rd January 2025

Kiran Gibson successfully achieved a not guilty verdict for her client at Croydon Crown Court in a case involving conspiracy to supply Class A drugs (cocaine and heroin).

The case stemmed from Operation Cashvale, a large-scale investigation into drug supply activity in the Sutton area. Kiran’s client, was charged belatedly after others had been charged and already pleaded guilty in the conspiracy.  Kiran’s client pleaded not guilty to the conspiracy and her trial was initially severed and listed independently of her three co-defendants, but eventually joined and proceeded to trial.

Following a three week trial in which the Crown Prosecution Service relied heavily on telephone evidence, cell site data, and observational evidence, the jury unanimously found Kiran’s client not guilty, while the other three defendants, which included the client’s boyfriend, were convicted.

Kiran’s client was a vulnerable woman with mental health challenges and a recovering Class A addict, making this outcome all the more significant.

Instructed Counsel was Kevin Molloy of Church Court Chambers
